Ice T was started in Tucson Arizona by Tom Gerlak in July of 1998. A graduate of The Culinary Institute Of America, his culinary career led him to business ownership and executive chef and teaching positions in Westchester County NY, Aspen CO, New Orleans, and Tucson. Tom achieved the level of Certified Executive Chef with the America Culinary Federation as well as, Certified Culinary Educator. He has compiled an impressive list of culinary, teaching, and ice carving awards including Southern Arizona Chef-Of-The-Year. In 2004 ice T was incorporated and Tom, now president, dedicates his full time effort of running the business.  Ice T inc. is the only manufacturer of clear carving ice in Southern Arizona and distributes blocks to ice carvers throughout Pima County. Because we make our ice we can freeze almost anything inside the block and create a carving around it.

Ice Art FAQ's:

A single block sculpture starts with a 300lb block the finished product will weigh from 100 to 175 lb. and is approximately 38'' tall 20'' wide and 10'' deep, it will last from 4 to 6 hours or longer depending on where it is set up.

We use an assortment of power tools and hand chisels including chain saws, angle grinders, and heat guns to create the carvings.  A single block sculpture costs from $250 to $325 delivered and set up in the Tucson area depending on the sculpting difficulty factor and delivery location. Table centerpieces range from $25 to $75. Some of our products can be directly picked up at our shop for a significant savings.

Delivered in our cooled, thermal van in a cardboard box, carvings are either dropped off in advance (for those clients who have walk-in freezers) or delivered at time of setup. Setup includes a 24''x 28'' drip pan with drain hose and lights.

Sculptures should be set up on a sturdy table with access to electricity, a table cloth is necessary to hide the drain bucket underneath. The table should be set up in a very visible area for the guests to enjoy the carving throughout the event.

Things to avoid are: Set up in front of a white or light colored wall, this can be rectified by simply placing a tall plant in between the wall and the sculpture. If a carving is to be set up outdoors avoid windy areas and never set up in direct sun.

Set up in the proper area and enjoy your unique work of art.
